Built by two young couples with years of restaurant experience — a neighborhood spot designed from the start to have something for everyone.
When The Observatory opened its doors in December of 2008, it became an instant anchor of the Montavilla neighborhood in Southeast Portland. Built by two young couples with years of restaurant experience, both the space and the menu were designed to have something for everyone.
The environment is sophisticated yet casual — it works for a special night out or an easy place to meet up after work. When you walk in the door, you can tell right away that staff is happy to have you there.
That feeling — of being a place the neighborhood actually uses, not just visits — has shaped the way the room sounds, the way the menu reads, and the way the bar pours, ever since.
A few years in, as business grew, the opportunity to expand arose — and Over and Out was born. Down the hall you'll find the Observatory's back bar, featuring the same inviting menu, a pool table, and four TVs.
It's a great place to gather with friends, watch the game, or just have a casual meal or drink. Same kitchen. Same staff. A little more elbow room, and a soundtrack of breaks at the pool table.
Starters, salads, lunch, dinner, brunch, sweets. The kind of menu where the table can order six different things and everybody is happy.
Special night out, after-work meet-up, lazy Sunday brunch, pool with friends — same address, four very different evenings.
When you walk in the door, you can tell right away that staff is happy to have you there. We think you can taste the difference.
